Job Description

Job Overview:

  • A restaurant manager oversees all aspects of a restaurant’s daily operations, from managing staff and ensuring food quality to optimizing financial performance and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate restaurant staff, including servers, cooks, and support staff.
  • Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and manage labor costs.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to staff members.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that guests have a positive dining experience by maintaining high service standards.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
  • Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the restaurant.

Food Quality and Safety:

  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Oversee kitchen operations to maintain consistency and quality in food preparation.

Inventory and Supplies:

  • Manage inventory of food, beverages, and restaurant supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Implement cost-control measures to optimize expenses.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the restaurant’s budget, including revenue and expense forecasting.
  • Monitor financial performance and take corrective actions to achieve profit goals.
  • Control food and labor costs to maintain profitability.

Menu Development and Pricing:

  • Collaborate with chefs to create and update the restaurant’s menu.
  • Set menu prices based on food costs and market trends.
  • Adjust menu offerings as needed to cater to customer preferences.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract customers and increase sales.
  • Organize special promotions, events, and advertising campaigns.
  • Establish relationships with local businesses and the community to drive business.

Compliance and Licensing:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and alcohol licensing.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to permits and inspections.

Reports and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on the restaurant’s performance, including sales, expenses, and customer feedback.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in restaurant management or the foodservice industry.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Knowledge of restaurant management software and financial systems.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
