Job Description
The Head Waiter oversees and coordinates the activities of the waitstaff to ensure excellent customer service and a smooth dining experience. This role involves managing daily operations, training new staff, and addressing any customer concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and Coordinate: Manage and coordinate the activities of the waitstaff, including assigning sections, ensuring timely service, and maintaining high standards of hospitality.
- Customer Service: Greet and interact with guests to provide exceptional service, address any issues or special requests, and ensure a positive dining experience.
- Training and Development: Train new servers on restaurant policies, service techniques, and menu knowledge. Provide ongoing support and feedback to improve performance.
- Menu Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of the menu, including daily specials and wine pairings, to offer knowledgeable recommendations to guests.
- Operational Duties: Ensure that the dining area is clean, organized, and well-stocked. Monitor the flow of service and adjust staffing as needed.
- Problem Resolution: Handle any guest complaints or issues with professionalism and resolve them to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other team members to ensure efficient service and accurate order fulfillment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a supervisor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations with professionalism.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in food safety or hospitality management is a plus.
