Job Profile:

  • Senior SQL Developer

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Knowledge of Fuel oil and the Bunker Industry desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Data Modelling.
  • Relational Database Design.
  • Database Application Development.
  • Microsoft – SQL Server / Transact SQL Server / Data Warehousing & Reporting.
  • PowerShell, DOS.
  • Database performance tuning.
  • Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems Design or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a SQL Database Developer.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to think logically and be proactive.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative in a constructive manner.
  • Flexible and self-motivated.
  • Work on multiple projects and use strong time management skills and priorities your workload accordingly.
  • Strong knowledge of application development methodologies..
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience architecting Database systems.
  • Experience producing database documentation.
  • Experience as an escalation point for database issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Principal Accountabilities and Activities: Key areas and tasks of responsibility (bullet point format preferable).
  • Lead developer within SQL team responsible for all database design and development, for legacy and new applications across the whole department.
  • Work closely with our software and application development teams to understand and design database structures based on the data storage and retrieval needs.
  • Review existing known problematic SQL and work closely with teams to refactor and improve performance without breaking existing interfaces.
  • Act as mentor to ensure that junior members of team are learning and able to follow team standards for SQL code and performance.
  • Responsible that team standards kept up to date, and are adhered to, ensuring database stability, reliability, and performance.
  • One of the principal owners of database schemas, documents (ERDs),dictionaries and other related documentation.
  • Keep up to date with technology and software, sharing tools and techniques, and knowledge with team.
  • Pivotal role managing source and change control, change automation and development cycles.
  • Management and support of development, QA, UAT and production environments.
  • Assist with testing and perform necessary bug fixes.
  • Monitoring servers and databases, immediately addressing issues and problems.
  • Escalation for database issues and provide out of hours cover and be part of release process.
